Connecting Your BioCharger To Your Wireless (Wifi) Network

Schedule a Zoom support session for wifi connection assistance

1. The USB WiFi adapter will need to be placed in the USB port (located below the red E-Stop button) before the BioCharger is powered on.

2. On a personal device (laptop, phone, etc), check the available wifi networks for a network named biocharger_default and connect with the password apassword

(Note: if biocharger_default does not appear, skip to Step 11 and Restore Defaults. If it still doesn't appear, try fully powering the BioCharger Off and back On. It should appear at that point).

3. Once your laptop is connected to the biocharger_default network, open a web browser (e.g. Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Brave)

4. In the browser address bar type 192.168.4.1 and press the enter key

5. This should take you to a web page that mirrors the main menu screen of your BioCharger NG

6. Click on the Setup button

7. Click on WiFi Settings

8. Type in your WiFi SSID (network name) and password. Both the SSID and password are case sensitive. If your SSID has any spaces in the name or any special characters, you will need to enter a backslash \ before each special character (including spaces).

For example, if your SSID name is ATT-2.4G  then you would need to enter it as ATT\-2\.4G in the SSID field.

Another example: if your password was Get Connected!, it would be entered like
Get\ Connected\!   ← note that the whitespace is still included after the backslash

Special characters include: $ @ ^ ` , | % ; . ~ ( ) / \ { } : ? [ ] = - + _ # ! & < > *

9. Once your SSID and password are typed in, click the Save button. It will look like nothing happens! However, if successful, the BioCharger NG screen will go black and reboot within ~20 seconds. If unsuccessful, it will reboot after a longer time, ~40-60 seconds.

If it never reboots at all after clicking Save, then your personal device likely has the wifi 'auto-join' feature enabled, and switched back over to your normal wifi network before you hit Save. In this case, reconnect to biocharger_default and hit Save again.

10. After the BioCharger NG reboots, you should be connected to your WiFi network. To confirm this, use your stylus to tap the green circle in the upper right corner of your BioCharger touch screen. It will return the status 'Internet Available' or 'Internet Unavailable'.
The other way to confirm is to log into your myCloud account and check the upper right corner for the status Connected in green. If you see the status Waiting... in red, the BioCharger is not connected to the internet.
It can take a minute for myCloud to update the status after connecting - try refreshing the page if you don't see the status change to Connected.

11. If your BioCharger NG does not connect to WiFi, you'll need to restore the biocharger_default network in order to start over.
On the the BioCharger screen tap Setup → Restore Defaults → OK. You should see the message "Defaults Restored" briefly appear on the screen, confirming success. You may also see the message "Error getting IP Address", which is normal in this case.  Return to step 2 and try again!
